A WORD FROM OUR
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
AND PRESIDENT OF THE BOARDEveryone at The Curtis
Home works to fulfill our Mission which is to help the elderly in our care
maintain their highest level of independence. It is this independence that makes our
residents happiest. This drives our ever-changing strategies designed to enhance and
create programs that meet our clients' needs.
Our Elderly Program has struggled triumphantly this year to
respond to the challenges that have come with continued changes in Medicare coverage and
expanding HMO managed care of Medicare-eligible elderly. We have effectively and
consistently found ways to cut expenditures in non-patient care areas and increased direct
care resources. Although this has been an immense challenge for our Board of Trustees and
staff, we feel there is no better reward than seeing the smiling faces of our elderly.
The prospects for further enhancing our ability to fulfill our
Mission in 2010 are generating excitement among The Curtis Home staff and volunteer
family.
There is no way to put a price on the happiness that our elderly feel when they experience even the smallest glimpse of hard-won independence.
Our staff, volunteers and donors are passionately involved in maximizing the independence
and therefore the happiness of the elderly we serve. We look forward to the
coming year and continuing the proud tradition of The Curtis Home.
