Since 1985

Opened in 1985, The Curtis Home has been a beacon of compassionate care. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every adult deserves the dignity and independence to live a life of purpose. We provide specialized long-term care and rehabilitation services that empower our residents to thrive in their community, fostering a legacy of health and resilience that continues to inspire us every day.

Our Founder & Philosophy

The Legacy of Lemuel J. Curtis

Lemuel J. Curtis was born in Meriden, Conn., in 1814.  As one of Meriden’s most prominent industrialists and compassionate philanthropists, he founded The Curtis Home in 1884 as a haven for children.  For decades, his vision has served the Meriden community.  Curtis believed in direct action and support, serving as a senior warden of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and a director of the Meriden National Bank, always prioritizing the welfare of his neighbors.  Today, his legacy lives on in our commitment to excellence and empathy in geriatric care, ensuring every resident is treated with the dignity Lemuel championed over a century ago.  Lemuel J. Curtis (1814-1888)

Our Modern Commitment

We are dedicated to helping adults and Veterans of all ages live as independently as possible.  This is achieved through long-term nursing, rehabilitation, and palliative services overseen by our voluntary Board of Trustees.
